Safety has always been a priority for the flow improver business. Under the leadership of Dennis Abington, Jr., LSPI is dedicated to operating safely, and advocating safety. Dennis regularly communicates with LSPI employees to share learned best practices on how to minimize risk, both personally and professionally. At each LSPI location, designated staff is required to take mandatory training so each site has prepared safety leads. When additional safety courses are offered, they are available as an elective course for all employees. LSPI currently has over 30 employees who are certified in CPR and First Aid.
"My role within LSPI is to concentrate on safety. Our approach is proactive. We want to ensure we are prepared for worst-case scenarios, but we focus our attention on thinking through situations and mitigating risk in advance," Abington said. "Every day, no matter what your job, there are risks in the work environment. My goal is that everyone be alert to potential hazards, and that each person does their part to help alleviate risk. We encourage our staff to speak up when they feel there is any sense of concern. We want every employee to go home safely at the end of their work day."
Dennis began his career with Conoco in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He continued to grow his skills through roles in waste specialization and transportation and environmental coordination. Dennis moved into a dedicated health, safety and environment (HSE) role at ConocoPhillips in 2005, and has been part of the specialty products organization for over five years.
